My Educational Philosophy

Philosophy:

Education develops the total being, physically, intellectually, socially and morally.

 

Teaching is an act of hope and confidence: hope that our students will succeed, confidence that they will.

 

This is founded in the fact that each student is an amalgam of individuality, unique and deserving of respect; each student is capable of learning more efficiently when presented with high quality, comprehensive material, tailored to a varied learning style.

 

Ultimately, the goal of education is not to present parcels of information, but to teach the student to think, to be a self-motivated learner, and most significantly, to become a productive, self-sufficient member of our community and our nation.

 

Our greatest dream as teachers is that each student will be personally successful and will forward the prosperity of America in an evolving economy.

 

In the final analysis, the success of our nation depends on the success of our educators; the success of our educators is gauged by the success of our students.

In order for our citizens to continue to enjoy the high level of prosperity we have developed, the thrust of education must aggressively address not only the core subjects, but the position of the United States in a global system of technological development and world-wide economics.

 

John Dewey said, “Knowledge of social conditions, of the present state of civilization, is necessary in order properly to interpret the child's powers.”

 

Every effort must be made to provide our students with sufficient knowledge and abilities to maintain our position in a global economy.
